    • Monitoring / Health check

      Hello

Is there any possibility to monitor whether a dynaSight application is healthy or down, similar to webserver health checks?
The reason is to recognise problems before angry users complain because they can't reach their reports.

Ideally you would check from a web client:
      • can the java applet be loaded
      • can the dynaSight service be contacted (webserver: IIS)
      • can the dynaSight application be loaded (start document)
      • can the database be reached by the application
      Thanks for your ideas!

      here are my ideas:

the webserver: simple batchile with telnet on port 80 and loggin into textfile or database
the rest: build an activity-application with the same databaseconnection as the reporting-application and log everthing (start of the application, state of the db-connection) into textfiles.

      hope that helps.

Thanks a lot for your ideas! May I ask some questions:
      1. How could the activity-application check if the reporting-application works (e.g. database connection is ok, but the first report causes an error)?
      2. Would you create a DOACTION server task to run the activity-application (or to run a check function inside of the reporting-application)?
      3. How would you combine the webserver check with the java check and the application check results?
